To run our scheme it takes over £70,000 a year this amount ensures we can provide every service we want to offer. We work very hard to try and raise this amount of money and apply to grants and funds. However in recent years we have found it extremely difficult securing funds of that amount. Every one is struggling and with so many other worthwhile charities it is very difficult to see the smaller more local charity above the large well advertised national charities. 

So why should you donate to Home Start Morecambe & Lancaster?



Because we are a small charity every penny raised in some form goes directly to the families we support, there aren't any well paid managers who just "manage" every member of staff works together on everything we do for our families and volunteers. We have core costs of course but this ensures there is a place for the families to "drop in" a place for volunteer training and family activities. We usually support 60 families at any one time that is estimated as 240 people in the Morecambe & Lancaster area who are receiving support from trained volunteers who have parental experience themselves. Offering encouragement to parents, playing with children as Mum is ill, sourcing and offering correct advice if the family need it, attending appointments with families, helping the family to overcome isolation issues, disabilities or mental health problems. There can be many reasons why a family needs support however we feel through our volunteers we are improving all the time and bringing a high level of support directly to the families in the area.
